Vacation Home

HOUSE

Karashka is fully equipped, self catering authentic guesthouse located in Central Bulgaria.
Built in 1921 the house is one of the most delicately restored old houses in the area. We have used only natural materials such as stone, clay and wood. The stone roof carries the spirit of the 19th century. The house is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 5 people. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor. Kitchen, dining and living rooms are on the ground floor. In the barn there is an additional studio for two with which the total number of people who can comfortably accommodate is up to 7 people. The house is suitable for those, who are willing to visit “Central Balkan National Park” and explore the local area, but not only! The place is also perfect for people seeking privacy and relaxation.

LOCATION

Our house is located in the Selishte village near Apriltsi town in central Bulgaria. The neighborhood is small and rural with approx 10 houses nearby. The house is located on a southern slope, about 500m altitude, surrounded by large forests, offering spectacular views of Stara Planina. You will enjoy the most majestic peaks Botev, Kademlya and Maragidik. The village is in a mountainous region, located directly on the road Sevlievo – Apriltsi. The road is a third class with good asphalt, but narrow and dangerous turns. We are located close to “Central Balkan National Park”, which is one of the largest and most important protected areas in Europe.

WHAT TO DO

CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL TOURISM IN THE REGION

Bulgarian history is long and with rich cultural heritage, embracing ancient civilizations. You can visit Thracian sanctuaries and tombs, remains of Roman cities, Byzantine and Medieval fortresses, architectural reserves, ethnographic complexes, churches and monasteries. Among these – recent times have left the in the region the remains of some of the most grandiose Bulgarian communist monuments. Explore the culture and history of Central Bulgaria on your own or with an experienced local guide.

ALTERNATIVE TOURISM IN THE AREA

Alternative tourism is different from mass tourism as it lets you blend with the local environment. Get to know the area by traveling to your personal choice and pace – try the traditional cuisine, pick vegetables from the gardens of the locals, get tips on how to live in Bulgaria, and visit some little known local markets. Alternative tourism in Central Bulgaria encourages the interaction with the local environment, people and communities. In this way you can enrich your trekking, hiking or ecotourism experience.

WILDLIFE WATCHING IN CENTRAL BALKAN

Bulgarian bears aren’t as famous as our seaside beaches, but there are more than 500 brown bears living in the country. Wildlife watching in Central Balkan is not like a Safari in Africa, where you watch directly from the car once you find the wild animal. Here in the Balkans, watching wild animals is a challenge, which requires patience and long walking in the unspoiled nature habitats. The region has several National Reserves, home of the following animal species: brown bear, wolf, wild cat, roe, chamois, eagle, red deer, wild boar, bats and a range of predatory birds.
